Apparently, at some point, I read the first book. Do I remember a single thing about it? Nope. So I went into this one struggling to remember who was in book one, obviously the book wasn't memorable enough.This book is very wordy, unnecessarily so. A ton of repetition, a lot of over explaining things we just finished reading. It's one of those "yeah, I know, I was there" type of situations. The world building g is not great. This one takes place in Russia, with some characters based another continents all together, yet they all inexplicable spoke English. The conflict doesn't quite come together. It's a simple one, quite obvious, but it reads as though the author is trying to make it be more complicated than it really is, buy having these conversations that just go around in circles. Or worse, where the characters sit down to hash out step by step, the things that either have happened or to overanalyze simple things.As far as the characters, I did not get a sense of what cryogenic people they were. From looks, to personality, to anything of substance. The relationship formed in a disjointed way, and I felt zero chemistry between them.Honestly, I just needed to write all this, to remind future me not to read any more books in this series. Wish I had done the same after book one. Zenith Grigori is a bear shifter, one of the three leaders of the shifter world. He is ancient and longs for the one to complete him. But there's more at play than simply finding his mate. Evil is tracking his mate and it's a rush to find Matisse in time.Five stars, a review written soon after May 15th when I ordered this . . . about six weeks ago. . . Then my review disappeared. Another one Amazon wiped. All that's left is five stars still up and a blank review. So I'm rewriting now and putting my review back up, verified purchase intact. I've noticed this more and more that book reviews are missing. For example this book has 41 reviews listed yet only 8 are available to read. I'm getting more discouraged in writing reviews and I bet it's frustrating for the authors.
