Good story with a sort of a friends to lovers/second chances vibe. I will say I think there was more potential to make the characters and plot points connect to the reader. There were certain elements that I knew were introduced and important to the main characters that I found hard to care about because it didn't feel like there was enough depth and exploration to have me as a reader truly invested in it, so some of it fell flat for me. Yani saying Darnell, for example. Very cute introduction but their interactions came up as such an after thought so when he did pop back up, that plot point didn't intrigue me bc I saw what was going to happen. Overall, this story was an enjoyable read. I just finished this book and I already want to go back and reread it. It's just that good! It has the quintessential Alexandra Warren humor and detail about the characters professional lives. I don't know anything about football or sneakers but I felt like Miss Warren had a really good understanding of both Lance and Briyana's jobs and what they entailed. As usual, this book was pretty freaking hilarious. There were so many laugh out loud lines and things I had to reread immediately because they cracked me up that much. I started reading this book last night, which was definitely a mistake. It took me way too long to convince myself to put the book down to finish today and I'm already dragging but I have no regrets.
