Sometimes ‘happy ever after’ takes a while but you have to admire a man who never gives up on the love of his life. We’ve waited through several chapters in his life story as his teammates found their perfect partners and it’s finally Rex’s turn.I don’t like providing spoilers ... so I won’t! But I will say that this is one of the best written books from the prolific Susan Stoker. She manages to appeal to almost every emotion in the hero’s journey. Her characters are rich and well rounded, and for those of us who have followed her writing for several years, you can see the progression of her craft. This is definitely one of her best works.It’s not necessary to read the prior books in the series, although they do provide helpful context. This review will be short and sweet.The last book in the Mountain Mercenary Series wraps it up, not with a whimper but with a huge MFing explosion. There are too many spoilers to give this book its due.Dave has found his wife but nothing in the Stoker universe is as simple as that.
